We celebrate Navarathri every year as a triumph of Goddes Durga over the demon Mahisasura. The celebration lasts 9 nights, each devoted to Maa Durga and her 9 avatars.
Goddess Skandamata is worshipped on the 5th day of Navarathiri pooja.
Who is Goddess Skandamata?
Goddess Skandamata rules the 5th chakra of Kundalini – Visuddha Chakra, which stands for highest purity.
You can find her in Shiva Maha Purana, Devi Bhagavatam, Skanda Purana, ChandiPpurana and Devi Mahtmya.
When the devotee worships her, Lord Skanda, her son in her lap, is automatically honoured. Thus, the devotee ensues to appreciate the grace of Skandmata and Lord Skanda’s elegance.
