What are the age requirements for your classes?
Here's a delightful tidbit: my student family ranges from 5 to 81 years old!
Age is just a number, especially when it comes to music.

You're never too old or too young to soak in the joy of music!

My child is 4 years old. Can I enroll them in your Sangeetham class?
I’m super excited to welcome little ones to my Sangeetham classes.
Generally, I recommend that kids should be 5 years old or above before joining. At this age, they find it easier to sit and enjoy our one-hour sessions and fully immerse themselves in the world of music.
Once your little one hits 5, we’d be delighted to have them join the fun and dive into the rhythms of Sangeetham!
Do you offer examinations or provide certificates?
I don't conduct formal examinations or provide certificates. Sangeetham is a traditional and creative art that follows the Gurukulam method, where the joy and satisfaction of learning are the true rewards. When I was learning Sangeetham in my younger years, it was all about the Gurukulam education. I incorporate my own teaching style with a modern twist, but at its core, it remains rooted in the Gurukulam method.
Nowadays, there are even institutions offering master's and PhD degrees in this art, but just 10 or 15 years ago, it was entirely about learning from a guru, which truly captures the essence of Sangeetham and the Gurukulam tradition. I'm not for or against these new educational methods, but my focus is on preserving the true spirit of learning rather than providing certifications. I choose not to conduct exams or offer certificates because I don't want to engage in monetary gain through such gimmicks.
With my teaching methods, I'm confident that you or your child will be able to sing wonderful songs within just three months, as my aim is to nurture talent and passion for this beautiful tradition.
Are there performance opportunities for students?
Absolutely! While I encourage students to find their own stage and build their confidence, I organize performances every year. These events give students a platform to showcase their skills and experience the thrill of performing. One of the reasons I teach Panchapuranam is so that my students can confidently sing in temples and in front of large crowds. Feel free to check out my gallery to see the events I hold annually, where students get the chance to shine.
What is your syllabus?
Our Sangeetham journey invites you to explore this traditional art through the cherished Gurukulam style, which has been passed down through generations in India. My own learning, guided by experienced teachers, reflects this rich heritage.
While I could list the basics like Sarali Varisai, Janta, Mel Stayi, Matya Stayi, Keel Stayi, Dhatu Varisai, Alankarams, and more—in a table, my teaching goes beyond that. With many years of experience, I personalize my classes to highlight each student's individual strengths, encouraging them to truly enjoy and appreciate singing.
Typically, students might spend a year only focusing on swaram patterns, which can leave audiences wanting more. My approach is different—I aim to spark your passion and help you sing real songs quickly. In just three months, you or your child can confidently sing beautiful songs. Let's start this wonderful musical adventure together!
